Sicario Analysis

Sicario

The film of Sicario indicates the sub-genres of crime, spy, mystery, drama and action, this is because of the various types of ways they had used camerawork, editing, sound and elements of mise-en-scene within the trailer. There were many enigmas, such as ‘Who or what they were they looking after?’, ‘What are they all fighting for?’ and ‘Who is behind all of this?’ The mise-en-scene also helped to show clearly what the genre of the film was as guns, police cars and bullet-proof vests are conventional props in a crime, mystery and action movie. These props also help to signify status and role of the characters. The roles being that of most of the characters either being a stereotypical police officer or archetypal as there was a woman officer. This woman officer played the role of a strong female even though she was in the way of harm. Another role would be that of a male villain, referred to in this film as a drug lord.
