Conventions of Vox Pops

-Latin for Vox Populi
-“Voice of the people”
-“Man on street”
-To learn opinions and ideas
-Ask questions of what people like about thrillers

Essential conventions

-Question is visible as a title, you don’t hear the question being asked
-Straight into the answers from the public
-People’s names are given, age and occupation at the bottom left of the screen, not there for too long
-Close-up/Medium shot
-Scenes are short and snappy

-Show the busy background to make it obvious where they are
-Eye-line on the right of screen on the first line of Rule of Thirds
-Ask all questions one after the other with the same person, then move on and film someone else, then edit all the questions together
-Each person is on screen for about 3 seconds, prevents the audience -from getting bored
-Don't have the interviewer on the screen, only the interviewee
